Teaching a range of subjects across the curriculum in the classroom, clinical, and lab settings. Assign, supervise, and evaluate students in a variety of clinical settings. Coordinate the Advisory Committee and accreditation processes. Work as a member of the Surgical Technology program team. Work closely with clinical affiliates. Participate in committees to meet program/college objectives. Provide written and oral feedback to students. Ensure up-to-date curriculum and participate in development. Maintain appropriate records for national accreditation and graduate certification.
Associate degree and a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program in surgical technology or an associate degree in nursing.
Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified operating room experience as a practicing surgical technologist (scrub role) or an operating room nurse including scrub experience.
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA formerly LCC-ST).
Minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Allied Health field.
Possess proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
Knowledge of accreditation standards and guidelines for surgical technologist academic programming.
