Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (FDU SoP&HS) seeks applicants for a Clinical Assistant / Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice within the Division of Pharmacy Practice (inpatient acute care/general internal medicine specialty). FDU SoP&HS prepares pharmacists who will provide patient-centered care, advance the pharmacy profession through research and patient and public health advocacy, as well as serve as future health care leaders. FDU SoP&HS offers an integrated curriculum that develops pharmacy practitioners who are able to effectively communicate with diverse populations and work as integral members of interprofessional health care teams. Further, the School offers a concurrent Master's degree program to qualified pharmacy students. The clinical faculty position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track appointment. Faculty members are expected to support School vision through teaching in the professional pharmacy curriculum, developing a research agenda within their discipline and providing service to the School of Pharmacy and University at large. This position will be affiliated with a large teaching hospital that is seeking a clinical faculty member to participate in direct patient care on an internal medicine service. It is expected that clinical faculty member will maintain active interdisciplinary care practice and engage FDU students in direct patient care activities while actively supervising them. Primary responsibilities of a faculty member at the clinical site will include educating students in clinical setting, pre-rounding with students, participating and contributing to interprofessional patient care rounds (and overseeing students' participation in such rounds), educating clinical site residents (if applicable) and clinical staff, providing and documenting pharmacotherapeutic interventions/pharmacy consultations, providing patient counseling/medication reconciliation, documenting medication errors/adverse drug reactions, and participating in quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the direct supervisor at the clinical site.
Successful applicant will: 1. Have a PharmD degree with PGY-1 and PGY-2 residency training; prior academic appointment or serving as a preceptor is desired; completion of teaching certificate program through ACPE-accredited PharmD program is desired; 2. Demonstrate understanding of academic pharmacy, experiential education, and ACPE accreditation standards related to curriculum and experiential education; 3. Show a desire to participate in expanding new educational platforms, including integration of technology and active learning; 4. Demonstrate leadership and initiative in supporting School's assessment and accreditation efforts; 5. Have a vision for the future of pharmacy education as a global enterprise; 6. Develop a personal philosophy and program of teaching, research and service focused on enriching students and enhancing the profession. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
