The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Manager is responsible for the planning, directing, and management of all areas of the SPD department to include Decontamination, Sterile Preparation, Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) reprocessing, and RME inspections of all locations of the HealthCare System. The SPD Manager will work closely with specialty services in order to plan work processes in SPD. The SPD Manager is responsible for ensuring all staff are trained and competent to perform duties and coordinates formal training to all employees. The SPD Manager must implement and incorporate regulations, policies, and procedures to manage SPD operations.
Minimum Education:â¢High school graduate or equivalent.â¢A graduate of a state approved, accredited school of Surgical Technology/Central Service Technician.â¢Bachelorâs degree preferedMinimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢Knowledge of Sterile Processing, Surgical Supply and Instrumentation.â¢Five year Sterile Processing leadership experience (Supervisor/Manager).Required License/Certification:â¢Certified Central Service Technician or Certified Surgical Technologist.â¢Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 90 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.â¢Certified Healthcare Leadership (CHL) preferred.
