The research technician will assist in organization and completion of experiments, as well as, performance of a variety of developmental biology assays. The technician will perform various other molecular biology techniques such as RNA and DNA extraction, qualitative and quantitative real time PCR, electrophoresis, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization. The technician will assist in cell tissue culture, data processing, statistical analysis, and graphic presentation of data. Additional responsibilities include preparing and disposing of reagents necessary for research, and maintaining lab inventory, including timely ordering of required supplies.
The incumbent will be expected to conduct difficult/complex lab testing, develop methods and procedures to be used in research protocols and experiments, aid with grant proposals, reports, and research publications. Experience working with mammalian specimen is desired. Associate of science degree in biology, or related scientific field is required, with less than one year of experience. Bachelors preferred. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. This position is located at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment.
