We are seeking a full-time research assistant to work on multiple ongoing clinical research studies in people with cancer. The individual in this position needs to be highly motivated individual and interested in being a key member of a research team studying the impact of cancer treatment and exercise on the health and survival of people with cancer. This person will be part of a core clinical research team who collaborates with a larger multi-disciplinary team with expertise in exercise physiology, oncology, and health. In general, the responsibilities for this research assistant position are to recruit research participants, coordinate and conduct data collection, communicate regularly with research participants, oversee REDCap survey maintenance and survey completion by participants and ensure the overall conduct of clinical trials. It is expected that this person will be able to work independently, with general supervision, and ensure that tasks are completed accurately and on time. S/he will need to communicate any problems and concerns and propose solutions to the Project Director and Principal Investigator of the projects. S/he may also be expected to develop databases, participant tracking systems, and standard operating procedures to be used in research projects. Additional tasks related to the conduct and dissemination of clinical research may arise. Familiarity conducting clinical research in older adults and/or clinical populations at OHSU is strongly preferred. A person who has excellent organization and data management skills, excellent oral/written communication skills, can work independently, identify and solve problems, and thrive in a team environment is a must. The person hired must be CPR/First Aid certified. This is a grant funded position for up to one year but may be extended depending on project needs and funding.
1 .The RA will perform a variety of duties essential to the conduct of research with human participants including recruitment and screening, coordinating and managing data collection, tracking participants in the trial and entering data and ensuring data completeness
2. Work with the PD and PI to ensure day to day conduct and overall conduct of trial and adherence to accrual goals and timelines
3. Assist with oversight activities, including development of SOPs, training of new study staff, development of databases, etc.
Bachelors degree or higher in exercise science, health promotion, nutrition, health education, nursing or related field required, OR
AA/RN (2 yr) and 3 years of relevant experience.
1) Experience communicating and collecting data with older adult and/or clinical populations
2) Ability to attend to details and complete assignments with minimal direction.
3) Ability to communicate clearly, demonstrate a high level of professionalism and interact well with participants and medical staff.
4) Experience working with Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs.
5) Data collection and management experience
6) Excellent verbal communication skills in English language.
Prior experience conducting research at OHSU.
Experience using the iMobility remote sensing system to collect data on human research participants.
Experience conducting research on older adults and/or populations with active chronic disease (e.g., Parkinsons or cancer)
Experience with behavioral interventions and/or working with clinical populations and/or cancer survivors is also desired.
Personal training certification or equivalent.
The work schedule is somewhat flexible as data collection may need to occur outside of the 9am-5pm work week. The position will start immediate upon hire.

Typical office environment. Ability to carry and lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to stand for 4-6 hours per day.
