This Patient and Family Waiting Room Liaison will be responsible for:
Acting as a liaison between patients and their families and the charge nurse and attending physician in the emergency department waiting area.
Participating as a member of interdisciplinary team to plan programs, caring for patients and participating in continuous quality improvement efforts.
Communicating with families in emergency services throughout their waiting time to be seen by an attending physician with the goal of keeping the family informed and feeling cared for.
Maintaining ongoing communications between families waiting to be seen and the Charge Nurse and Triage Nurse.
Providing frequent updates to patients/families regarding wait, and providing other information as requested by each family.
Providing information and guidance to families who are considering leaving without being seen. Communicating issues as they arise to the medical team.
Demonstrating professionalism, communicating and documenting appropriately.
Collaborating with the Staff to ensure patient/family needs are met, in both the waiting area and the exam room.
Attending classes/in-house training on patient/family satisfaction.
To qualify, you must have:
The level of knowledge typically acquired through completion of two years of occupational-specific education and two to three years of experience.
A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field, preferred.
The analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
This position is 32 hours/week - 4PM - 12:30AM, 4 days/week that includes every other weekend.
