The Milieu Counselor will be responsible for:
Providing skilled therapeutic support and safety management of patients with behavioral health needs in the emergency department, inpatient, and ambulatory clinic settings.
Responding to and deescalating acute behavioral health crisis.
Collaborating closely with team's RNs and medical staff to plan and provide for behavioral health care needs.
Providing one-on-one support, as needed, to patients with complex needs.
Assisting with transitions out of emergency department, to inpatient units, etc.
Education to non-psychiatric staff on caring for patients with behavioral health needs.
Assisting with the implementation of overnight coverage in the emergency department, with the flexibility to provide overnight support to other areas of the hospital, as needed.
Following established policy, procedures, and approaches to providing care.
36 hour/week position to provide support to staff and patients with behavioral health needs being cared for in non-psychiatric settings.
Position is (3) 12-hour shifts rotating days/evening/overnight and every other weekend.
Flexibility with scheduling is preferred.
To qualify, you must have:
2 years of experience working with children with behavioral health needs, required.
Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field is preferred.
Some experience in an inpatient medical/surgical or ED setting preferred.
