The Division of Education seeks to hire a full-time faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor English Education/Literacy in Undergraduate and Graduate Education Programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to providing excellent teaching, the successful candidate will:
Teach courses in literacy and English language arts
Mentor students in Master's thesis courses in action research
Prepare students for future and current roles as teachers of literacy
Develop coursework in the area of literacy
Make scholarly contributions to the education field and the College community
Keep current in theory and practice related to literacy programs
Attend all division and college faculty meetings, serve on Division and College-wide committees,and participate in accreditation activities
Collaborate and work with colleagues
Provide academic advisement
Participate in committee work at Program, Division, and College-wide levels
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
Ed.D. or Ph.D. literacy/reading or relevant field
Minimum of three years teaching in an elementary school setting with an emphasis onreading instruction
Strong background in development, assessment, and instructional strategies in
Literacy and Reading
Evidence of research and scholarly publication
University teaching experience preferred
