The Department of Mathematics at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Program Coordinator. This position will assist the Pre-Collegiate Mathematics Coordinator with the delivery of the WVU Mathematics Dual Enrollment Program. This person will train and mentor high school teacher facilitators, provide site visits to schools in West Virginia, assist with placement testing of students and assist with all aspects of setting up and administration of the dual-credit math courses.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Conduct orientation for the WVU Mathematics Dual Enrollment Program for all new teacher/facilitators in participating high schools in WV.
Assist in the process of acquiring WVU accounts, put new partners into the academic course shells and set up and management of discussion boards.
Train High School teachers/facilitators that are new participants to the WVU Mathematics Dual Enrollment Program to utilize technology and software required to teach and monitor math course(s) being offered through the Program to qualified High School students. Software training will include, JAVA Applications used in student laboratories, and eCampus course components.
Answer teacher/facilitator questions, concerns and correspondence; then forward appropriate questions to the course instructor, WVU IT staff, or other WVU personnel for resolution.
Grade student work and maintain an open line of communication with High School teachers/facilitators concerning the grading rubric and the most efficient way to utilize that resource.
Assist and train any additional graders needed for large enrollments (over 300) with the grading rubric and procedures.
If needed, visit partner High Schools to provide support in the course method, course content or other issues with the delivery of the college level course.
Conduct formative assessment of the site and make recommendations to the teacher/facilitator to assist in the successful delivery of the course. If unable to assist the teacher/facilitator the issue or problem will be referred to the Project Coordinator for resolution.
Proctor ALEKS Testing at participating Mathematics dual-enrollment partner high schools only and follow up with any make-up exams needed in regional locations. Testing is for Math courses only and will not include any testing for the WVU main campus or local participating High Schools near the WVU campus.
Report the ALEKS test scores to the participating partner High School teachers/facilitators for review.
Arrange teacher/facilitator meetings for participants from across the state to meet at the WVU campus.
Collect and submit information from teachers/facilitators to Department of Math Office Staff to update Partnership Agreements, process reimbursements and travel accommodations reimbursements.
