Essential Job Duties:
This position will be responsible for the following: Systems Management (Virtual/Physical, High Availability, Storage, for Linux/Windows), High Powered Research Computing (Slurm clusters, storage and research design), Endpoint Management (Jamf, SCCM, AD, software packaging, networking, etc.), Special Project Consultations and Enhancements (New technologies, implementation plans, disaster recovery, continuity of operations, documentation & SOP design), Data Security & Compliance (Departmental & University policy enforcement, feedback, design and ongoing implementation).
In regard to the following, the position is responsible for:
Managed Desktop Computing: Managed preferences, patching, and computing standards for a macOS fleet of ~1300 devices. Publish apps and policies in Self Service for end users. Provide licensing solutions for various apps. Ensure compliance with NC State Standards.
Mathematics HPC: Maintain the Mathematics High Powered Computing Cluster for research use. SLURM manager is used to queue jobs for use on the cluster.
A/V Conference Room Support:Design, maintain and upgrade A/V conference and meeting room technology in SAS Hall. Designs primarily based on macOS and other Apple devices.
Virtual/Physical Infrastructure: Maintain a Hyper-V infrastructure intermixed with physical boxes for departmental needs and compliance measures totaling ~100 hosts.
License Management: Manage network, per-seat licenses, and accounting of licenses for devices.
Inventory Management: Manage inventory for all departmental assets and tie inventory management to asset/call tracking.
Temporary Device Checkout: Maintain a pool of short term macOS devices for checkout and conference room use.
Managed iOS Computing: Managed preferences, patching and computing standards for iOS fleet (~180) and policies in Self Service for end users. Ensure compliance with NC State Standards.
Sensitive Data Protection Consults: Providing consultation on best practices for dealing with sensitive data, and set security compliance standards for machines with business processes involving sensitive data.
Special Projects Consults: Consult on special project design and execution. Involve IT in the mindset and planning phase of departmental projects.
Managed macOS Lab Computing: Provide a 60 seat computing desktop lab for use to students, staff and faculty.
Managed macOS Mobile Lab Computing: Provide two 30+ seat computing laptop labs for use to students, staff and faculty.
Website Services: Maintain departmental Apache and Wordpress environments for department and individual uses.
Printing Services: Manage and provide print queues for departmental network printers.
IT Consumables: Maintain accessories and peripherals for long term departmental use.
Position supervises temporary student workers. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
