The Department of Biology at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a 9-month tenure track faculty position in neuroscience. The appointment is expected to be at either the assistant professor or associate professor level. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in neuroscience in relation to complex diseases, behaviors and health disparities. The candidate must develop, or have already developed a research program in his/her area of expertise. The candidate is expected to strengthen current funded research projects and to engage in interdisciplinary, collaborative research in the basic and behavioral sciences. The selected candidate will also engage in the development of academic programs, student advisement, and establishing and maintaining professional relationships. The new faculty member will play a major role in the College of Science and Technology's newly redesigned Applied Science and Technology (AST) Ph.D. program by providing training in the bioscience concentration. Mentoring of pre-doctoral, masters, and undergraduate students as well as post-doctoral researchers in the Department of Biology and the College of Science and Technology is anticipated.

The Department of Biology has more than five hundred (550) enrolled undergraduate and over 25 enrolled master's students. It also expect to enroll several PhD students under the newly approved PhD program in Applied science and Technology. Biology is housed in Barnes Hall, and currently has 14 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. The Department of Biology's mission is to educate students to become competent, competitive, and confident leaders who excel in global scientific community.
