The University of Maryland School of Medicine has an opening for a Health Program Manager to work in the Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling within the Department of Psychiatry. As a member of the administrative team and under limited supervision, the Manager uses subject matter expertise to plan and coordinate the clinical content and delivery of the Center's development of the Problem Gambling Services Network of Organizational Providers and Private Practitioners within the state of Maryland.
The Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling is a program of the University of Maryland School of Medicine affiliated with the Maryland Council on Problem Gambling and funded by the Maryland Department of Health. The Center brings together experts in treatment, training, education and prevention. The Center is dedicated to: helping the citizens of Maryland understand the problems associated with gambling which can become a devastating addiction; training clinicians throughout the state to be effective with gambling addiction clients; and to carrying out vital evaluation and research. Manages, sets goals and creates tactics to achieve clinical program objectives.
Provides and directs content and delivery for clinical supervision for statewide problem gambling specific and problem gambling integrated clinical programs, assuring provider competencies in problem gambling screening, assessment and treatment are based on the use of evidence-based practices.
Interacts with clinicians and other community providers to facilitate technical assistance to meet policy and program needs; to be accomplished through site visits, monthly phone/email contact; documentation to be maintained for monitoring progress and The Center reporting requirements.
Works with the Communications/Office Manager, on the planning for professional training through The Center for problem gambling provider agencies, private practitioners and other community organizations seeking problem gambling awareness, knowledge and skills.
Delivers the Center's professional training for problem gambling provider agencies, private practitioners and other community organizations seeking problem gambling awareness, knowledge and skills.
Under the direction of the Program Director, consults with providers and stakeholders on policy and program needs to ensure evidence-based practices are utilized for problem gambling assessment and treatment.
Serves as an information resource to Center staff, community providers, the university and other external agencies.
Participates in Center events and activities including community presentations, outreach activities, and annual conference.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in behavioral health field. Master's degree is strongly preferred. Experience: Four (4) years of experience performing program planning and coordination regarding clinical work with gambling disorders. Supervisory: Two (2) years of direct supervisory experience. Preferred Licensure: Clinically Licensed in Behavioral Health Field to engage in Clinical independent practice (licensed social worker, licensed psychologist, etc.). Nationally recognized problem gambling counselor certification at supervisory level preferred. Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.
