The Farré (https://farrelab.plantbiology.msu.edu/) and Buell (http://buell-lab.plantbiology.msu.edu/) Labs are seeking to hire a Research Associate to improve our understanding of the role of circadian control in potato. These activities are part of a NSF-funded project to functionally characterize the circadian clock in potato and to determine the genetic architecture of circadian period heterogeneity among potatoes. Ample opportunities for interactions and collaborations with physiologists, molecular biologists, bioinformaticists, genomicists, geneticists, and breeders exist that will provide broad exposure to disciplines relevant in physiology, genomics and genetics. The Farré and Buell labs provide a robust training environment for postdoctoral associates seeking careers in academia and industry and applicants interested in a dynamic, positive research experience are especially encouraged to apply.
MSU provides competitive salary and excellent benefits for postdoctoral associates. Starting salary will be $48,700. The position is a one-year initial appointment with possible extension up to four years contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding with a desired start date of July 2020.
Doctorate – in plant molecular biology, physiology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, biology or related field.
Competitive candidate will be broadly trained in either plant molecular biology, physiology and genetics, and/or genomics, bioinformatics and biology. A research background in the plant sciences with a publication record showing productivity is preferred. Demonstrated critical assessment skills essential.
