The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applications for a Help Desk Support Specialist, to join the Information Technology & Analytics division. The successful candidate will be responsible for interacting with employees to provide phone support for IT hardware, software, and web-based applications.
Daily data entry/logging customer calls into the Helpdesk Software (all calls/tasks performed)
Applying critical thinking to assist with both simple and complex user requests, document each interaction with the user, and follow-up with the user to confirm a resolution
Troubleshooting network connectivity issues including digital authentication, remote access, secure Wi-Fi, and wired connectivity to the internal network
Supporting users on applications and tools within the environment including the Microsoft Office Suite, Communication tools, and Mac and Windows OS
Prioritizing queued tasks and requests and assigning out to ensure timely handling for all
Supporting and maintaining Office 365 solutions
Escalating IT issues within the team where necessary
Installing authorized software to laptops and desktops
Contributing to policies, processes, and procedures
Keeping up-to-date with advancements in technology
Managing IT assets with Asset Database
Other duties, as assigned
SCHEDULE: Generally, the hours for this non-exempt classified position are Monday through Thursday, 7:30am – 5:30pm with a one hour lunch break; Friday, 8:00am to 12:00 noon. However, the incumbent must be flexible to meet the department’s needs.

A High-School Diploma or GED equivalency is required, as well as a minimum of 1-year work experience on an IT support desk, sales, or closely related IT position
Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Web Access experience is necessary, as well as working knowledge of collaboration tools like Skype
Networking and general WAN/LAN troubleshooting experience is highly desired for this position
