The Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications from primary care practitioners or emergency veterinarians interested in providing high quality, primary-level, outpatient urgent care to client-owned animals in a dynamic academic setting on a part-time basis (60% time). The Veterinary Medical Center’s Urgent Care Service will help complete the continuum of care between the VMC’s Primary Care Service (formerly General Practice Service) and its 24/7 Emergency Service, offering receiving hours from 3 pm – 10 pm weekdays, and from 10 am to 2 pm on weekends beginning on, or after May 26, 2020, depending on the availability of the selected candidate.
This position is a non-tenure, contract track appointment with the title of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Responsibilities include primary case responsibility in the outpatient receiving service and potential future clinical instruction of veterinary students and interns rotating through the service. The service's clinicians will work closely with a team of certified veterinary technicians to ensure high quality care, excellent customer service, and an optimal teaching environment. There are no required didactic teaching or research responsibilities for the position.
Essential qualifications include a DVM/VMD or equivalent foreign degree and a minimum of 2 years companion animal (dog and cat) practice experience, or completion of a I-year rotating internship program. Desired/preferred qualifications include a minimum of 3 years practice.
