Position Details: The college is accepting applications for part-time instructors to teach the following Music Technology classes for the Fall 2020 semester (August through December):
> MTEC 110 - Recording Arts I (lecture 1.5 hours, laboratory 1.5 hours) This first in a sequence of four recording arts courses presents an introductory overview of the audio production process. Topics include the physics of sound, transducers, audio processors, and recording-studio logistics.
> MTEC 120 - Digital Audio Production I (lecture 1.5 hours, laboratory 1.5 hours) This course is a survey of the various procedures and technology used in contemporary audio production in the digital domain. Course work includes the Avid Pro Tools 101 Certification Test.
The department chairperson or designee will review applications as vacancies become available.
Instructors may be assigned to any campus or authorized facility. Assignments may include days, evenings, and/or weekends.
Basic Function: Under direction, plan, organize and teach assigned courses in an instructional discipline in accordance with approved course outlines, education code requirements and faculty contract provisions; provide feedback and guidance to students and evaluate student performance; and perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The transcripts you are attaching to provide evidence that you meet the minimum qualifications below must state the degree title, major, and date awarded.
1) Bachelors degree or higher plus two years of professional experience directly related to this assignment;
or associates degree plus six years of professional experience directly related to this assignment;
or a valid appropriate California Community College Credential in the discipline area;
or the equivalent*;
2) a current Avid Pro Tools Instructor certificate is also required if applying to teach the MTEC 120-Digital Audio Production I class;
3) have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
