Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
We are seeking an experienced Research Laboratory Specialist Associate to join Dr. Clifford Cho’s laboratory. Established in 2006 and extramurally funded since 2007, this laboratory is interested in optimizing T cell-based approaches to cancer immunotherapy. The current laboratory team includes Dr. Cho as Principal Investigator, a faculty scientist, a laboratory manager, two postdoctoral research fellows, and several graduate and undergraduate students.
The applicant is required to function as a manager and research specialist in a cancer immunology research laboratory. The applicant is expected to work fairly independently and to carry out the following duties:
Conduct animal and laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and develop new and/or revised research methodologies.
Disseminate information to laboratory staff through data presentation and assistance with abstract and manuscript preparation.
Oversee laboratory equipment and supplies.
Organize laboratory animal and supply purchasing.
Prepare and update regulatory protocols and revisions.
Maintain administrative records related to regulatory protocols and purchases.
Provide general technical support and assist in day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
Assist in mentoring and training new undergraduate students.
Bachelor's Degree is required.
1-3 years of experience in a related field.
The following skills are required for this position:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Lymphocyte assays including flow cytometry
Mouse handling and procedures
Familiarity with immunological principles and biology
Experience with laboratory management, including regulatory protocols
The following skills are strongly desired for this position:
Mouse tail vein injections
Mouse intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injections
Preparation of lymphocytes from mouse spleen, tumor, and lymph node tissues
Lymphocyte stimulation assays
Microscopy, including immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence

The University of Michigan requires the academic knowledge of a health science discipline, such as public health, microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy, pathology, nursing, dental hygiene or medical technology, including advanced study or demonstrated capacity for health science research that is generally associated with a Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible work experience.
