The College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University is seeking outstanding applicants for two Assistant Dean positions – one leading the Macomb University Center (MUC) site and one leading the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) site. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, administrative responsibility for college programs, including developing collaborative relationships with leadership, faculty and staff at all three MSUCOM sites; supervising site staff members responsible for the implementing Academic Programs, Student Services and other college programs; leading site faculty; serving as a problem-solving resource; and overseeing the finances of the site in compliance with MSU business procedures.
Responsibilities also include fostering the professional development of osteopathic medical students; engaging with other health professions programs to support interprofessional education; and building and maintaining effective collegial relationships with leaders at the site, in regional affiliated teaching hospitals, and with clinical faculty in southeast Michigan. This is a full-time, annual (12-month) appointment reporting to the Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine. Rank and academic unit are dependent on qualifications of the candidate selected.
Doctorate -Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O)
The position requires a degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited college of osteopathic medicine, as well as scholarly and professional accomplishments and reputation commensurate with the position. Prior administration experience is required.
Experience with medical education in an academic setting is preferred. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
