The Patient Advocacy/ CSR Department at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Staff Assistant II. The successful candidate will: - Report to the Executive Director proactively on relevant serious issues requiring immediate action. - Greets patients and families at both the ED entrance and hospital main lobby. - Assist with helping patients find clinic appointments and patient visitations. - Serves as a liaison between patients' family members and staff to resolve issues. - Answer incoming calls regarding patient complaints in a professional and courteous manner. - Investigate and respond to patient/family member complaints promptly; responsible for adhering to the complaint management process for prompt resolution; documents patient complaints in the Complaint Tracking System. - Daily rounding on assigned units visiting the new admission; expedites services of Limited English Proficiency population, ensuring interpretive service is provided; serves and protect the DMC community adhering to policies/procedures and professional standards. - Educate patients about their rights as needed; adheres to Downstate Medical Center's Principles of Behavior. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); working with patient satisfaction data is a must.
