Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, MI prepares artists and designers to have impact through practice. Responsibilities for a KCAD adjunct faculty member include syllabus and class preparation, instruction during scheduled course time, providing reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s), and evaluation of student performance.
The Photography Program of KCAD challenges students to express ideas, investigate conditions and circumstances, and communicate both specifically and effectively with lens-based imagery. A course of study emphasizing the history, technique, production and critique of photography leads to a wide variety of careers in photography.
The program is seeking adjunct faculty to teach KCPH 110 Introduction to Photography (Non-majors) and KCPH 240 Lighting for Photography, for the fall 2020 semester which begins in August.
Faculty - Temporary & Continuing
MFA Photography or a MFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Photography.
Required Work Experience:
Minimum of two years of college-level teaching experience beyond teaching assistantships.

Evidence of successful photography practices along with an exhibition record and professional achievements.
Prepare syllabus and class according to college standards and distribute syllabi. Teach appropriate course(s) as assigned. Assess and evaluate student learning and provide formative feedback throughout the course. Provide reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s). Evaluate student performance. Contribute to the college’s continuous improvement. Maintain effective communication with students and colleagues. Work collaboratively with faculty, students and staff throughout the college.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency with continuous (tungsten) lighting for portrait and product, Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, RAW image editing, color management, and professional quality inkjet output using Epson Print Engines up to 44” wide.
