The Veterinary Physiologist will contribute to the integrated (extension, research, and teaching) land-grant mission of the home unit, School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and IANR, as an effective scholar and citizen, including supporting student recruitment and IANR science literacy. The incumbent will serve Nebraska by working as a faculty member.
As appropriate to the appointment, the incumbent will: develop a high-impact research and teaching program in veterinary physiology as well as other courses in CASNR as appropriate; seek and establish effective disciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations including effective integration with research groups and/or educational programming; effectively obtain and leverage external and internal support (grants, fee revenue, etc.) for research and/or teaching activities; mentor graduate students; publish in high-quality, high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and participate in scientific meetings and other appropriate professional activities; and translate research-based information into learner-centered products. This includes: creating scholarly, innovative, and high impact learning programs and tools; identifying issues and opportunities focused on learner needs and emerging regional and national issues with international relevance; measuring the impact of your programs and communicating results to administrators, stakeholders, users, and media; and mentoring colleagues through professional development, translational research, grants, and professional writing.
The incumbent will be expected to average 0.65 FTE as determined by the CASNR Academic Appointment Guidelines, by teaching courses that encompass physiology, other basic sciences and veterinary medicine. The course(s) will be appropriate for professional, graduate and undergraduate students. Specific course assignments may change over time based on SVMBS, and CASNR needs.
Additional Responsibilities of the Academic Appointment: Development of innovative teaching methods; outcomes assessment; advising/mentoring graduate, undergraduate, and professional students; and participating in recruitment and retention activities.
The incumbent will be expected to develop a research program that either advances instructional approaches to maximize learning outcomes or areas of physiology that complement existing areas of focus. Expectations of this position include communication of scholarly outputs at conferences and meetings, and other scholarship (e.g. peer-reviewed publications, textbooks, software, extended education lesson plans and modules), contributing to the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
PhD, or DVM (or equivalent) plus an advanced academic degree (MS or PhD).
Record of peer reviewed publications and teaching experience.
