Greets Patients and Families upon arrival to the Emergency Department waiting room.
Provides comfort care to patients and families.
Makes frequent rounds on patients and families offering blankets, pillows, and chairs for comfort.
Maintains the tidiness and cleanliness of the Emergency Department.
Assist in restocking ER supplies, the blanket warmer, and bedside linen carts.
Maintains the privacy and safety of patients by closing curtains and assist in ensuring side rails up on patient gurneys.
Offers refreshments to family members (and patients when permitted by the nurse)
Provides support to and crises interventions for family members and assist as needed should a death occur.
Performs service recovery to help resolve any complaints by the patient and/or family members.
Informs the Charge nurse of any matters that should be brought to his/her attentions, including complaints (after first attempting service recovery), medical concerns, and or safety issues.
Is cross trained to do visiting rounds in the Critical Care Department and follow the chain of command for conflict resolution with the charge nurse first, then clinical coordinator, then director as necessary and nursing supervisor after hours.
Performs Phlebotomy, EKGâs Simple to Complex and Extensive Dressings.
Applies splints and ortho devices as ordered by MD, PA, NP.
Completes daily department checklist, checks all gurneys for full O2 tanks, and ambubags
Checks each bed daily for working and ready suction, O2, Call Light, TV(where applicable)
Restocks and daily checks all oto-scopes in the department
Other duties as assigned by Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator and Director
Minimum Experience:- Hospital experience or customer service experience necessary.- Experience in EKGâs, Splints, and Phlebotomy.Required License/Certification:- Current BLS Certification through AHA. - Current Phlebotomy certification. - AB 508 Certification.
