The Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) provides individual and group therapy and assessment; training of medical providers and students; and contributes to scholarship. The TTS plays an important role in the health education and behavior change for patients through the UNC Tobacco Treatment Program at the NC Cancer hospital. The TTS is administratively responsible through the Supervisor of the UNC Tobacco Treatment Program a the NC Cancer Hospital.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment. Some positions may require certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board.
Candidates must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; strong attention to detail; and an ability to handle deadlines, flexibility with priorities and evolving duties, and ability to handle confidential information. Candidates are expected to exhibit professional interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. Candidates must work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with all peers, program related personnel and faculty, demonstrate initiative, and remain calm under pressure.
Previous experience working in a medical and/or academic environment is preferred. Preference for those with experience working with patients with cancer or other chronic diseases.
