Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the The School of Arts and Sciences(SAS). This position reports to the Senior Administrative Assistant within Undergraduate Studies. The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the unit by assisting with the coordination and administration of programs and projects. This position Coordinates and assists key departmental programs including: departmental Honors, Rutgers Day, Writers at Rutgers Reading Series, the AP Institute for high school teachers, etc.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Serves as one of the Unit's academic advisers to students majoring in English, assisting students in registration/scheduling of English courses, graduation requirements, and any procedural problems or academic issues.
Coordinates the preparation and control of records, statistics, reports and documents.
Processes various administrative documents and data.
Creates routine informational materials about the Undergraduate English program, including an extensive Undergraduate Handbook.
Responsible for posting all Undergraduate materials on the English website.
Serves as liaison within and outside the Undergraduate program, working under direct supervision, with specific instructions on routine work and within established work parameters for the unit.
Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office management practices and the basic application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of the unit administration.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good good communication skills and computer literacy.
