Coordinates participant recruitment, data collection, and data processing for a longitudinal study of early child development with a focus on lower-income families of color. Major responsibilities include participant recruitment, conducting in-lab study assessments, including psychosocial interviews and developmental assessments of young children; behavioral coding of parent-child interactions; data coding, entry, and processing; and completing administrative tasks as needed. Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).
This position will be a Research Study Coordinator for the SPAH (Stress, Pregnancy, & Health) Kids study. The Research Study Coordinator will work closely with the Principal Investigators to coordinate the collection, analysis, processing, and reporting of study data. The Research Study Coordinator’s major responsibilities will include participating in the planning and conduct of participant recruitment and retention efforts; conducting study assessments, including psychosocial interviews and developmental assessments of young children, in accordance with study protocols; coordinating research participant payments; assisting in direction and training of undergraduate student volunteers; collecting, compiling, and summarizing study data; purchasing study supplies and coordinating reimbursement of study related expenses in accordance with grant budgets; completing other administrative tasks as needed. Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, and policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB).
This is a 2-year term position. Opportunity for renewal will be based on performance and available funding.++
Participates in the planning & conduct of research study including participant recruitment and retention.
Obtains informed consent
Administers tests &/or questionnaires following protocols.
Completes basic clinical procedures such as drawing blood & obtaining blood pressure.
Conducts and codes observations of parent-child interactions
Collects, records, reviews & summarizes research data.
Prepares reports for investigators and sponsors on recruitment status and other pertinent study data.
Completes documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols.
May process payments for research participants per study protocol.
May provide work direction &/or train other research staff to interview/test participants.
May act as a mentor in regard to education of junior coordinators.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.
Prior experience working with lower-income families.
