The Human Resources Supervisor is responsible for analytical support, management and supervision of all human resources, academic personnel recruitments, payroll programs and processes, and department events for the Department of Dermatology consisting of faculty, volunteer clinical faculty, academic researchers, MSP Associate Physicians, career staff and students. This position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and is a member of the Department's leadership team to achieve department goals and objectives. This individual advises the Department CAO, the Department Chair and supervisors on a wide array of complex and multi-dimensional issues and advises on the best course of action for resolution. Independently develops policy pertaining to the areas supervised within the department and implements upon review and approval by the CAO. In collaboration with CAO, develops short- and long-range personnel planning goals, strategies and recommendations. Works with department management and staff to maximize departmental processes and exercises initiative, originality and judgment in applying established principles and practices to new and unusual problems. This position supervises two Administrative Assistants. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required with a preferred concentration in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred.
Working knowledge, understanding and experience in counseling and advising, and work in partnership with, management and staff on matters pertaining to human resources, academic personnel, payroll and events policies, procedures and applicable laws and regulations with ability to analyze, interpret, communicate and apply policy where applicable.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement human resources programs independently and in collaboration with other HR professionals.
Experience with, familiarity with or ability to learn systems and applications such as RECRUIT, Academic Personnel History Information Database (APHID), MyInfoVault (MIV), Talent Acquisition Management (TAM), UCPath, Aggie Service, Cognos Reporting System, ecotime, and CME.
Demonstrated computer experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Analytical skills to evaluate problems, streamline processes, review policies to make decisions, provide recommendations and develop justification to resolve problems.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and the ability to manage through change.
Strong communication (verbal and writing) and interpersonal skills.
Special Requirements Must be able to work variable schedule as needed. This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
