The Assistant Director of Admissions for Hispanic and Latinx recruitment represents the admissions office and the University in a variety of settings on and off campus without any supervision and must make decisions to conduct oneself appropriately and responsibly, commit accurate information about the University, admissions, financial aid, and majors to the public, give recommendations to and counsel prospective students, families, school counselors and other public audiences. In addition, Assistant Directors plan, implement and administer programs and initiatives designed to target, recruit and enroll new undergraduates. This position will guide Hispanic and Latinx recruitment initiatives and outreach efforts. The Assistant Director will be expected to form and enhance relationships with on campus partners and community organizations.
Responsibilities Specific to this position include: Manage a communication plan to reach Hispanic and Latinx students and families to engage them in the admissions process and assist with application completion Plan and execute recruitment events and programs designed to reach the Hispanic and Latinx community Coordinate on-campus Explore Open House programs
Other responsibilities include: Managing a regional recruitment territory within NC and assist with out of state travel as needed Host daily information sessions on campus Review admissions files and render admissions decisions Educate students and families on the admissions process and UNC Charlotte Build relationships with high school counselors and college advisors Budget management
Minimum Experience / Education:
Master's Degree required, or Bachelor's Degree with equivalent experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Work Experience: Three to five years of admissions/advising experience
Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to build relationships and maintain a recruitment-oriented focus
Preferred Skills: Fluency in Spanish is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and presentation skills. They should also exhibit the ability to analyze data to inform decision making and the flexibility to be responsible for a full range of recruitment activities. We seek energetic candidates with a strong sense of initiative, the ability to work well independently and in a team, and the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently. Previous work with volunteers, students, parents, and alumni in a university setting is preferred.
