Associate or Full Professor (In-Residence, Clin X) Division Chief, Pediatric Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) (http://psychiatry.ucsd.edu/Pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. In collaboration with Rady Children's Hospital, San Diego, the Department of Psychiatry seeks to recruit candidates for an endowed chair faculty position as Division Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Consistently ranked among the nation's top Children's Hospitals in the 10 pediatric specialties surveyed by U.S. News & World Report, Rady Children's is affiliated with the UCSD School of Medicine and is the region's teaching hospital for the next generation of pediatric physicians, researchers and caregivers.
Reporting to the Department Chair of Psychiatry within the School of Medicine at UCSD and Dean of Children's Clinical Services and Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego Leadership, and working in conjunction with the Deputy Chiefs for Clinical Affairs and Education, the Division Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is responsible for achieving the Division's strategic, academic, operational and financial goals by providing leadership, quality oversight and research direction for members of the Division. She/he will help define the scope of research and clinical practice for their division consistent with the mission and goals of UCSD Department of Psychiatry, Children's Specialists of San Diego, and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. This effort will include defining appropriate patient populations to be served, research initiatives to be pursued, as well as executing strategic initiatives. She/he will also be responsible for developing a robust, extramurally-funded research program in child and adolescent psychiatry to broaden its research funding portfolio. The position will hold an Endowed Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UCSD. The position is based at Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego.
Candidates must have:
An M.D, or equivalent
Applicants with an M.D. must be eligible for licensure in the State of California
Be in good standing with the Medical Board of California, UCSD, Children's Specialists of San Diego, and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego
Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Experience, training and demonstrated track record of success in conducting cutting edge, extramurally funded research directly relevant to child and adolescent psychiatry
The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
