A molecular biology/immunology research laboratory at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking an individual to assist in developing informatics resources to study chromosomal translocations and other cellular phenomena. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with solid communication skills, who enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary team environment to help solve complex problems. Additionally, he/she will have the opportunity to co-author any resulting publications. A 2 year commitment is required.
The Research Data Coordinator will be responsible for:
Processing and analyzing next generation sequencing data through a combination of open-source software and custom computational strategies. In addition, they will be responsible for making this data accessible to lab members through statistical analyses and graphical visualizations.
Helping manage/maintain the lab's internal server and webpage.
To qualify, you must have:
B.S. degree (or higher) in computer science, bioengineering, or related field, or B.S. in a biology related field with relevant programming experience.
Experience in a scripting language such as Python or Perl preferred.
Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools and databases preferred (NCBI, UCSC genome browser, samtools, bedtools, etc.)
Must be comfortable working in a Linux environment
Excellent problem solving skills and a strong desire to learn new skills, tools, and technologies
The ability to be independent and resourceful in taking responsibility for own learning.
