The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (DPTRS) at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate level Professor in the Adjunct series (non-tenure track).
This primarily a teaching position with other University and Public Service duties. Salary and title will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and training. Experience and documented excellence in teaching complex human anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology, and/or pathophysiology are highly desired. The candidate is required to have a PhD, DPT, DSc, or equivalent terminal academic doctoral-level degree by time of hire. License to practice physical therapy is highly desirable. Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission.
Teaching duties will include curriculum development in the areas of human anatomy, exercise physiology and/or pathophysiology for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students, along with possible opportunities to teach anatomy for medical students in the School of Medicine. There will also be opportunities to teach advanced anatomy for students in the PhD in Rehabilitation Science program and physical therapist residents in the Orthopedic Residency program. Important components of the position will be the development of computer based and online educational content, and innovative approaches in teaching adult learners. All faculty members are expected to develop an area of scholarship. Research experience in anatomy, kinesiology, physiology or education and/or the demonstrated ability to bring research questions and findings into teaching is highly desirable.
The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (DPTRS) is a department in the School of Medicine, and has 28 faculty members, 150 DPT graduate students, and volunteer faculty. In addition to the DPT program, the department has an Orthopedic residency, Acute Care residency, and a PhD program in Rehabilitation Science. The DPT program is a joint program with San Francisco State University. The DPTRS also operates three faculty practice clinics and a Health and Wellness Center.
