Elon University is currently accepting applications for an Elon Academy Assistant Director of Student Life and Senior Scholar Support. The Assistant Director of Student Life and Senior Scholar Support will provide summer and year-round support to senior scholars and some college students. He/She/They will assist with the coordination of the Transitions to College and College Success Programs. He/She/They will also be responsible for recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and assessing summer mentors. In the summer, the Assistant Director of Student Live and Senior Scholar Support will oversee and assess summer evening activities and handle the logistics of student life including college visits. This position reports to the Director. Four-year college degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Senior Scholar Support (year-round programming)
Implement the college planning curriculum during the summer and year-round programs for seniors and families (this includes teaching a college planning class in the summer program):
College application process
College entrance examinations (SAT/ACT)
Securing financial aid and scholarships
Assessing financial aid packages
Conduct individual and group advising sessions and group workshops for senior scholars and families during the summer and year-round programs
Coordinate college/university campus visits during the summer and academic year
Summer Student Life
Oversee all non-academic aspects of the summer program
Coordinate Evening Activities for summer residential program
Coordinate college/university campus visits during the summer
Update Critical Incidents document and serve as the lead staff member when incidents arise in the summer program
Coordinate summer logistics (housing, dining services, transportation) in conjunction with the Program Assistant
Supervise scholar leadership team
Supervise summer intern (if applicable)
Transitions to College and College Success Programs (summer)
Assist with the Transitions to College and College Success Programs
Assist the Assistant Director of College Success with ongoing mentorship of college scholars. This includes visits to college students on their campuses.
Mentor Recruitment, Selection, Training, Supervision and Assessment
Recruit, select, supervise, and assess Elon Academy summer mentors
Train and supervise Senior College Access Team (CAT) mentors
Participate in all Elon Academy staff meetings
Assist the Director of Elon Academy as needed on program evaluation
Collaborate with Elon Academy and Center for Access and Success staff
Attend and present at professional forums and conferences regionally and nationally as appropriate
Stay current on changing policies, challenges and opportunities for undocumented students, continuing to closely advice these scholars
Network with colleges, universities, and other college access and success programs
Perform other duties as assigned
