The Academic Coordinator will support the teaching and research activities of the first-year engineering curriculum offered for the UCI-Dalian University of Technology (DUT) Joint Program (JP). The primary duties will be to assist in the lecture and laboratory teaching of first-year JP engineering students. This position also addresses the crucial curriculum and advising need for individuals with instructions directly related to the mechanical engineering discipline. Research activities will center on engineering education and different forms of pedagogy that can be instituted to further enhance engineering education. Their continued training will focus on fostering future engineers with global competency. The Academic Coordinator will supplement their previous research experience with research focused on teaching pedagogy and engineering education at the engineering school level. Assisting curriculum articulation for Mechanical Engineering courses between DUT and UCI;
Coordinating among different units among DUT campus to ensure the curriculum is aligned with UCI Mechanical Engineering requirements.
Organizing laboratory teaching for the JP in DUT;
Assisting the recruitment of incoming students for the JP in China;
Ph.D. in any of the engineering disciplines, or M.S. with related project-based learning experiences in teaching and/or pedagogy research.
Preferred prior teaching experience in an engineering laboratory.
Working Environment: Temporary relocation to China is required. Dalian University of Technology (DUT), is a public research university located in the city of Dalian, Liaoning province, China. Students at the Joint Program will be instructed by both DUT and UCI faculty in Mechanical Engineering. Dalian is a modern port city on the Liaodong Peninsula, at the southern tip of China's Liaoning Province.
