This position is part of a team responsible for the design and implementation of communications for The Lawrence Hall of Science. This team works collaboratively with leadership and programs across the Lawrence Hall of Science to successfully launch and sustain department-wide as well as program-specific communications initiatives.
The Sr. Web Developer position will play a vital role in designing web interfaces and content, and multimedia processes. The position designs, develops, modifies, tests and evaluates and maintains websites on Drupal and Wordpress. The Applications Programmer 3 will work as part of an integrated Marketing, web, design and communications team to ensure the department's web sites are kept updated in terms of content, as well as front and back-end technology. This includes helping deploy, update and maintain the front-end interfaces of many websites, as well as creating and updating new and existing websites. Additional responsibilities include module implementation, web application development, troubleshooting, contributing ideas and efforts toward internal projects, and working as part of a team to find solutions to communications challenges overall. This position will also manage the vendor relationships supporting this role.
Designs, develops, modifies, debugs and evaluates static web content management system and hosting system and/or vendor services for functional areas.
Analyzes existing programs or works to formulate new systems, devises procedures, prepares flowcharting, performs coding, data analysis, and tests/debugs programs through the application of professional programming concepts.
Provides analysis for the use of complex relational databases.
Develop and execute moderately complex test plans.
Trains users in conversion and implementation of system.
Clearly explains technical work to program leaders and the team, as needed.
Performs complex data modeling, performance and integration testing and builds screens for a variety of internal and external constituents.
Uses client service skills to accommodate changing dates, priorities, and styles.
Knowledge of other related areas of IT such as hosting.
Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation.
Knowledge of department processes and procedures or the ability to learn quickly.
Has skills needed to develop conversion and system implementation plans and to manage diverse teams to complete web projects.
Has strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner, including the ability to interact with cross-functional teams to ensure complete delivery of web applications Requires interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Ability to understand business needs and how business systems can support those needs.
Has extensive knowledge of Drupal 7, including Drupal theming and subtheming, as well as maintenance and administration of websites and modules.
Has extensive knowledge of Wordpress.
Thorough knowledge of programming and style sheet languages such as PHP, MySQL, HTML and CSS
Thorough knowledge of responsive design principles and best practices.
Thorough knowledge of WSC accessibility standards.
Familiarity with institutional processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communications, including campus and Lawrence Hall of Science style guides and web standards.
Skilled at developing and implementing original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solving problems.
Experience integrating open source and third-party applications into existing systems.
Ability to translate Illustrator and Photoshop files into fully realized and functional web interfaces.
Skills in diagramming, wireframing and using design tools.
Experience assisting with end-user support needs and perform troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Experience taking active ownership and accountability for all assigned projects through final delivery, meeting all timeline milestones and delivering within the approved budgets.
Must be self-motivated, work independently or as part of a team, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
Must have advanced skills in web programming language.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Extensive Drupal and Wordpress experience.

Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. The annual salary range of the position is $67,500.00-$98,900.00, commensurate with experience.
