Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Staff Nurse – Per Diem for the Acute Services at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse is to provide nursing services and participate in the delivery of individualized, goal directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process in accordance with departmental and program policies and procedures and all regulatory requirements. The Staff Nurse functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team; participates in quality improvement activities, educational activities and supports research endeavors. The role is consistent with the scope and standards outlined by the American Psychiatric Nurses Association for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assesses individuals served, family and significant other’s needs in order to provide quality care
Documents initial nursing assessment and individualized, goal directed plan of care considering the psychological, social, physical health and safety needs of the patient.
Collaborates with treatment team, individuals served, family and significant others in the development of individualized plan of care, on an as needed basis in an effort to promote wellness and recovery.
Defines expected outcomes in terms of the individual's served values, ethical and cultural considerations, environment or situation with consideration of associated risks, benefits, costs and current scientific evidence.
Maintains concurrent and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the multidisciplinary team.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
One (1) year of experience in substance abuse treatment program or facility.
Professional New Jersey Nursing License.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have the ability to provide person-centered nursing care, relate to clients, use the nursing process, problem solve, direct non-professional staff and the ability to request help.
Must demonstrate strong clinical nursing specialty and excellent communication skills.
Must have experience with Microsoft Office.
Valid driver's license with clean driving record for outreach.
