Under general direction of the principal investigator, the research coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing clinical trials within the Department of Urology. Incumbent will participate in all aspects of clinical trials from working with faculty PIs, and potential sponsors, submission/renewal of protocols and required documentation to the Internal Review Board (IRB), to the actual performance of the trial(s). Incumbent will conduct interviews with study patients in the clinic, screen participants, and collect data in compliance with established study protocol. Incumbent will develop and establish process for review and oversight of all clinical trials conducted by department investigators, and will ensure study protocols are followed, appropriate documentation is kept, and accurate data is collected. Incumbent will act as liaison between UC Irvine IRB Board, UCI Contracts & Grants, Department Business Office, and various outside organizations and/or sponsors. Knowledge of research methodology, statistical software and data analysis required; incumbent will be expected to have prior knowledge of grant applications and trial design for clinical protocols.
Baccalaureate Degree or equivalent research experience, Master's preferred.
Ability to develop and write research protocols and grants.
Experience in grant writing and manuscript preparation.
Experience with clinical research design and successful grant applications.
Experience of human subject review, patient's rights and informed consent.
Experience of manuscript and abstract submission processes, rules and regulations, and formatting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent patient interpersonal skills.
Computer skills including facility with Microsoft Office, computer programming, and statistical software.
Publication Track record.
Experience with Urology patients and Urology physician's practice.
Knowledge of UC policies and procedures as they pertain to contract and grant administration and IRB approvals.
Website, Brochure, and Presentation Design.
Ability to guide and assist visiting professors, Fellows and medical residents in medical research.
Experience in hospital care and basic urological procedures.
Experience in molecular laboratory techniques.
