The Stewardship Officer reports to the Assistant Director of Stewardship and implements strategies to recognize and reward donors including stewardship events, and recognition societies and giving circles. As a part of the Stewardship team this position works in conjunction with annual giving, directors of philanthropy, and events staff to insure that donors to Oakland University see the impact of their gifts. The Stewardship Officer will also manage a small stewardship portfolio of top donors in order to maintain, strengthen, and enhance long-term existing relationships. The Stewardship Officer will develop and implement stewardship plans for each donor in the portfolio working in accordance with the President, VP of Advancement, AVP of Principal Gifts, and AVP of Philanthropy.
B.A. or B.S. degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and three years of professional writing experience in the areas of development, special events or alumni/donor relations and prior volunteer management experience preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to analyze data and attention to detail. Ability to problem solve and work on several projects simultaneously. Creative, graceful under pressure, and a team player.
