Responsibilities Under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is accountable for the operations of HEDI responsibilities which include the setting of programmatic objectives, direction and management of human and physical resources, management of the operating budget, oversight of compliance with policies and procedures, programmatic and event planning and implementation, and process and operations improvement. The CAO represents HEDI with University Accounting, Audit, Human Resources, Purchasing, Academic Personnel, and Public Affairs. In addition, the CAO works with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and all affiliated offices and centers, such as the Office of Student and Resident Diversity, Center for Reducing Health Disparities, Office of Campus and Community Relations, and Office of Academic Diversity.
Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience in healthcare or higher education.
Demonstrated experience and proven ability to successfully lead and motivate professional and support staff to achieve high levels of performance.
Extensive experience in the design and implementation of organizational and strategic plans, systems, and processes that articulate clear strategic direction, goals, and tactics.
Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel simultaneously, as well as work autonomously under pressure of multiple and sequential deadlines.
Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues that require independent judgment and strict discretion, and maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive, confidential and/or privileged information.
Demonstrated ability to work with executives, faculty, and senior officials from within and outside the University, and ability to think strategically and serve as a sounding board to executive leadership and senior faculty.
Enthusiasm, ability to speak and act on conviction, initiative resilience, strong personal work ethic, and unquestioned personal integrity.
Written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with University and Health System leadership, faculty, staff, and external organizations.
Working knowledge of the operational and strategic goals and policies of the University of California.
Thorough knowledge of University and UC Davis Health System policies with regard to assessment, administration, allocation, and appropriate use of resources.
Proven track record of contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse staff and stakeholders, including experience on how to select, manage, evaluate, and retain diverse employees.
Experience in an academic health system is preferred.
Special Requirements This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
