The Division of Endocrinology in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University is seeking a Research Data Analyst to join the Project ECHO Diabetes team. Stanford University has partnered with Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) to develop a Project ECHO model for diabetes (insulin requiring type 1 and type 2 diabetes), Project ECHO Diabetes, for the State of California. Given the success of the ECHO T1D pilot program, the Stanford research team is now preparing to evaluate patient-level outcomes and value considerations for payers, clinics, and providers prior to preparing for broader implementation of the ECHO Diabetes. The goal of ECHO Diabetes is to increase the capacity of primary care providers (PCPs) and clinics to empower and safely and effectively manage underserved patients with insulin-requiring diabetes who do not receive routine specialty care. Project ECHO Diabetes is a tele-education and tele-mentoring collaborative that provides cutting edge knowledge using the Project ECHO model ECHO is an innovative Hub-and-spoke outreach model committed to addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations by equipping community practitioners with the right knowledge, at the right place, at the right time.
The ideal candidate is a passionate persons with significant experience working with or living with diabetes who is interested in systems change and addressing health disparities in diabetes. This is a full-time position that will require travel and relationship building with clinic sites throughout the State of California. The candidate will serve as the primary resources on the research team to spoke sites for the data collection process. Our Department values team collaboration and seeks a candidate who is passionate about furthering research in population health and health disparities.
Prioritize and extract data from a variety of sources such as notes, survey results, medical reports, and laboratory data, and maintain its accuracy and completeness.
Determine additional data collection and reporting requirements.
Design and customize reports based upon data in the database. Oversee and monitor regulatory compliance for utilization of the data.
Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root cause for data problems or justify solutions to be implemented by others.
Create complex charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation.
Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys.
Test prototype software and participate in approval and release process for new software.
Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff.
Additional tasks as may arise in the execution of the ECHO research project. * - Other duties may also be assigned DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience in clinical research, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, IT, statistics or engineering
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Experience with data management, including creating and merging data from large data sets
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications.
Experience with REDCap
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) data abstraction
Excellent writing and analytical skills.
Ability to prioritize workload.
Experience with and knowledge of the day-to-day challenges of care faced by children, adolescents, and/or adults with diabetes will be considered a strong plus.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
Travel to clinic sites throughout California
Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand
Rarely lift, carry, push, pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
