The Employer Outreach Specialist (EOS) develops and maintains partnerships with local, regional, national and global corporations and not-for-profit organizations for the purpose of cultivating full-time employment and experiential education opportunities for USC students and alumni. The EOS serves as a consultant to human resources professionals and hiring managers to assist them in developing strategic action plans for recruiting at USC. The EOS has an important role in representing the University to external constituents. The EOS conducts regular day and/or overnight travel, as well as working occasional evenings. The EOS will be assigned to either a Southeast or Mid-Atlantic region and the position can be based either in Columbia or remotely in an approved city within the region.
EMPLOYERRELATIONSHIPDEVELOPMENT (30%): Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop an annual office-wide target list of employer prospects across all industries which meets strategic employer relations goals, while maintaining a great deal of independence in coordinating employer outreach efforts for assigned industries/academic liaison areas.
Vet and approve employer-initiated requests for employer accounts in the Career Center's online career management system. Develop targeted follow-up responses and strategically initiate contact with those employers deemed to be strong prospects for USC to maximize relationship development.
Serve as a talent acquisition consultant to human resources professionals and hiring managers by assisting them in developing strategic action plans for recruiting. Conduct gap analyses to evaluate employers' current activity levels with the University and recommend a phased approach for deepening their engagement level(s). Provide strong business value based propositions for the employment and experiential education opportunities of USC students and alumni.
Develop employer leads by scheduling and facilitating in person consultations with target employers across all industries within assigned region(s) to assess an employer's recruitment needs, educate them about the UofSC talent pipeline, and assist them in developing recruitment strategies for implementation at UofSC.
Represent the University with external constituents at employer sites, trade shows or professional association conferences, industry forums/symposiums, and Chamber of Commerce events, as well as through virtual means (phone/Skype).
EMPLOYERRELATIONSHIPMANAGEMENT (25%): Maintain strong year-round relationship with active employers by connecting them with appropriate resources/services (job postings, on-campus interviews, job fairs, etc.) to meet their recruiting needs. Provide information to employers about USC Career Center recruiting policies and services in accordance with relevant employment law.
LOGISTICS (15%): Customize outreach efforts to employers through use of tailored templates for email and phone correspondence and meeting agendas. Compile a history of prior Career Center engagement and hiring for each organization for use in meeting preparation. Accurately and efficiently document employer interactions using the Career Center's customer relationship management (CRM) software. Schedule travel and lodging and document travel expenses.
KNOWLEDGEACQUISITION (15%): Assess and maintain ongoing knowledge of market conditions for assigned industries/academic liaison areas. Develop outreach goals to address gaps in the supply-demand ratios of students to current employer relationships. Develop tailored sales presentations for employers based on pre-consultation knowledge acquisition of that organization's specific recruiting goals, along with information on the corresponding academic degree programs and curricula USC offers to meet that employer's needs.
CAMPUSRELATIONSHIPDEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT (5%): Communicate regularly with Career Center colleagues in other functional areas (i.e. career development, experiential education) to educate them about opportunities for students. Collaborate across the employer relations team to assist employers in implementing recruiting plans and identifying additional employer engagement opportunities.
OTHER (10%): Manage any assigned special employer relations project(s) or initiatives. Assist Career Center staff with additional Career Center Initiatives.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Master's degree and 5 years related program experience, or bachelor's degree and 7 years related experience. Master's degree or ability to obtain by date of hire.
