Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Nurse Clinician (Clinic), for the Nursing Department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The Nurse Clinician (Clinic) provides clinical coordination and ensures continuity of care to a specified group of patients in the ambulatory setting. In collaboration with other members of the Unit, is responsible for ensuring that high quality, comprehensive services are delivered to patients. The scope of the position is defined by the Nurse Practice Act of the State of New Jersey, and the Standard Operating Procedures set forth by the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works with the physician and /or designated Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to coordinate the delivery nursing of nursing care to the patient population. In collaboration with the physician, plans, coordinates, delivers and evaluates care to meet individualized patient needs.
Maintains database of clinical information on all patients who receive care in the Unit.
Supports the research mission by collaborating with the Research Nurse Clinician (RNC) in protocol implementation and patient monitoring. Works collaboratively with the RNC to proactively identify patients who are potentially eligible to participate in clinical trials.
Assists with the coordination of patient care services from the ambulatory to inpatient setting by communicating with hospital nursing staff as needed. This includes proactively managing patients who utilize clinical services provided by Same Day Chemotherapy Unit. Ensures continuity by providing interface to treatment nurses, APNs, physicians, and appropriate hospital staff.
Collaborates with designated APNs to provide urgent care through telephone triage and onsite assessment.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
Individuals currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Program will be considered and must complete educational requirements within one (1) year of employment.
A minimum of two (2) years of oncology specific nursing practice experience. *Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) required within one (1) year of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
New Jersey State Registered Nurse license.
American Heart Association: Basic Cardiac Life Support.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Bachelor's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Experience in the inpatient or ambulatory setting.
