Extension Service (WVUES) at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Student Recruiter. This position will p rovide dynamic leadership, organization and assessment of student recruitment and engagement initiatives for the audiences of the statewide WVU Extension Service with particular emphasis on the WVU Youth Campus at Jackson's Mill.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Develop materials, strategies and plans for recruitment of youth with targeted middle and high school aged student audiences to promote college-going and specifically provide pathways for students to discover and attend a WVU campus. Work closely with WVU's University Relations, Outreach, Enrollment Management, and Visitors Center staffs to coordinate plans, tactics and materials.
Work in close partnership with WVU Extension field facility (agents) and staff to identify and create opportunities for students in 4-H, FFA, Scouting, HSTA, teachers and school systems to learn more about college. Provide information and training to WVU Extension agents and staff as well as community volunteers.
Working with WVU Extension faculty and staff as well as WVU recruitment professionals, create recruitment events and opportunities at WVU Youth Campus at Jackson's Mill, during camps, school visits and retreats. Participate in creation of programming and displays for the newly envisioned Visitors Center and STEAM building at Jackson's Mill.
Work with students and parents to provide information and create training tools to develop greater knowledge and understanding of making college attainable.
Partner with professionals in University Relations, Enrollment Management, Regional Recruiters and Key Recruiters at WVU Morgantown, Beckley, and Keyser to identify and recruit potential students.
Be the lead recruitment resource within Extension.
Represent Extension's outreach capacity to other WVU recruiters and UR colleagues.
Work with existing events (Day at the Legislature, 4-H camps and events, Dairy Show, Davis College events, etc.) to connect with students and families about WVU.
Encourage and assist with arrangements for campus visits, applications and enrollment.
Initiate events and opportunities both on campus and in communities for students and families to discover more about WVU and to encourage visits, applications and enrollment to all three WVU campuses.
Participate in trainings, meetings and information with Extension professionals as well as Key Recruiters, Key Communicators and Regional Recruiters.
Work closely with University Relations and Extension Communications, prepare and execute communications and marketing plans and trainings, including newletters, online trainings, email updates, and social media strategies.
Work with the First Generation Office, Honors College, Financial Aid, and other WVU offices to conduct Zoom sessions or seminars for students, parents and Extension communities.
Bachelors Degree in related field.
Three (3) years of professional experience related to higher education, recruitment, student life, guidance, marketing, and events.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and develop and deliver and overall program of recruitment.
Demonstrated communication skills and understanding of social media, ability to create and make presentations to small and large groups.
Knowledge of WVU and West Virginia is a plus.
Valid Driver's License.
