Biology Instructors are responsible for teaching 30 credits per school year in various foundational Biology courses including General Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition and other courses as assigned. Proficiency in using computer-based laboratory experiments is expected.
We are seeking instructors dedicated to excellence in teaching who desire to make a difference in the lives of our students. Teaching assignments may be located at all three Riverland campuses of Austin, Albert Lea, and Owatonna. The instructor may be assigned to teach in a traditional classroom and lab format as well as online, hybrid and interactive television formats. Classes meet during daytime hours, evening and weekends.
The candidate must be able to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and college laboratory assistants in lab settings, demonstrate knowledge of and experience in assessment of student learning outcomes, participate in department meetings, curriculum development, and college-wide committees, and maintain ongoing professional development activities.
Master's degree with a major in biology or
Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in biology.
Undergraduate teaching experience;
Excellent communication skills;
Ability to provide leadership in curriculum development and academic assessment activities;
Commitment to departmental participation, vision, and planning;
Ability to work with a diverse student body including multilingual or multicultural and underserved populations.
