An Associates level or Bachelors level (preferred) individual who is familiar with medical research. This position requires the incumbent to use good judgment and discretion, act independently when applicable and maintain a professional demeanor.
Candidate will recruit and enroll participants (children and adults) for influenza research studies. Job responsibilities may include consenting, swabbing noses and throats for respiratory viruses; keeping study records and agendas, contacting participants, entering data into electronic data bases, maintaining data bases of participants in research studies.
Candidate may perform job duties at hospitals, medical offices, urgent care centers and emergency rooms throughout Allegheny County and/or surrounding counties. Candidate must be willing and able to travel to different sites throughout the extended Pittsburgh metropolitan area for work.
Must possess excellent oral and interpersonal skills; be dependable, prompt, organized, have careful attention to detail. Candidate must work well with team members with shared responsibility. Candidate will be expected to maintain a professional appearance.
M ust be proficient in the use of personal computers and software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; and must be willing to learn other software as needed.
Must be able to obtain Act 33/34 clearances and FBI background check, including finger printing.
Must be available and willing to work late afternoons, evenings, weekends, federal holidays. Must be available to work 16-40 hours per week. Training begins after hire, but job responsibilities will gradually increase in November or December, depending on the project.
Medical assistant training desirable, but not necessary. Candidates who intend to apply for medical, dental or other health professional schools, health/public health graduates/students are encouraged to apply.
A Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred.
