The Graduate Assistant (GA) reports to the Associate Director of Student Success for Advisement with a dotted line to the Assistant Director of Student Success and Testing. The GA for Advising and Testing will support Ramapo College’s enrollment goals and efforts through a dual position within the Center for Student Success. The position has a dual assignment: The first is in Academic Advisement reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Advisement and second in the Testing Center reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Success and Testing. In Advisement, the position will function in an administrative capacity to the Associate Director of Student Success for Advisement, serve the advisement team in a broad spectrum of activities including but not limited to managing advisor schedules, supporting student appointments, preparing reports and coordinating assessment of advisement, events and initiatives. In the Testing Center, the position will assist with the administration of computer-based and paper/pencil tests/exams offered by the Center and with the preparation of reports and materials for Student Success. This position will work closely with the Office of Specialized Services to assist with the scheduling, administration and communications regarding accommodated testing. This is a 12-month position, 25 hours per week.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE TESTING CENTER
Provide quality customer service to new and current students, faculty, staff and the general public
Assess potential student crisis situations and offer first level mediation and refer to Office of Specialized Services or Center for Health and Counseling Services for follow up
Proctor tests according to NCTA Standards and Guidelines and established Testing Center policies and procedures
Provide administrative support for the Testing Center
Assist with scheduling of on campus tests
Follow up with appropriate parties in case of missing exams
Administer appropriate tests based on test referral or by referring to College Data Management system;
Explain and clarify test instructions for students; disseminate test results and advise students if additional testing is needed
Refer students to next office and/or academic support programs when appropriate
Ensure test results are entered in the appropriate College Data Management system
Maintain and troubleshoot problems with computer hardware and software; report equipment malfunctions to HELPdesk
Maintain integrity of testing environment; (check IDs and calculators, monitor testers throughout testing session, secure materials and secure the Testing Center according to institutional procedure)
Maintain a professional and clean Testing Center and testing environment;
Store and file reports, correspondence and testing data in an organized manner
Inventory supplies and notify Testing Team when supplies need to be ordered
Prepare reports and other materials for the Testing Center and Student Success
Participate in College-wide events, such as Commencement, Orientation, Opening Convocation, Founders’ Day, Student Success programs, and others
Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Student Success for Testing and Assistant Vice President of Student Success.
Assist the Center for Student Success on an ad hoc basis
Assists in the recruitment, selection, training and supervision of student aides
Represents the Testing Center at campus programs as requested
Assists in the promotion, implementation and administration of Testing Center Initiatives
Become a certified ACCUPLACER, STAMP, TEAS and CLEP test proctor
Update and edit the Testing Center website as needed and have a working knowledge of WordPress
Assists with the development and implementation of assessment tools, collects and summarizes data, and delivers recommendations
Assist with public relations and marketing to expand testing services
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT
Maintain caseload of 90+ students (first-year, designated populations, first semester transfers and all undeclared students) as assigned by the Associate Director/Assistant Vice President of Student Success providing them with accurate and timely academic advisement that includes: General Education, school core, major/minor requirements and academic policies
Advise students on a walk-in basis related to college policies and curriculum and student needs. Assist students with understanding College policies and procedures.
Utilize available predictive analytics to conduct interventions with students on caseload.
Participate in the development and distribution of the Appreciative Advisement Survey and/or survey of advising services to First-year Advisees and other students served by the Center for Student Success.
Assists in the coordination, promotion, and evaluation of the six phase Appreciative Advisement model.
In conjunction with the Associate Director, assists with the coordination and promotion of Academic Advisement Months.
Assists Advisement, Orientation Events, and conferences managed by the Center for Student Success.
Creates materials and facilitates presentations to promote Academic Advisement and Center for Student Success Services
Assists with the development and implementation of assessment tools, collects and summarizes data, and delivers recommendations.
Utilizes available technology in the delivery of academic advisement services, including CONNECT, U.Achieve, Banner, Camtasia,and WordPress for website updates, and more. Other duties as assigned.
Participate on committees as determined with supervisor.

Graduation from an accredited College or University with a Bachelor’s degree is required
Enrollment in a related graduate program is required.
Undergraduate experience in academic and student affairs services is preferred.
Excellent oral and written skills are a must.
Potential candidate should have public speaking experience and a commitment to student academic and social success.
Supervisory experience is preferred.
