The Microbiology Technical Specialist (CLS) performs a variety of standardized and highly specialized assays in a specific section of the Clinical Laboratory. Â The Microbiology Technical Specialist (CLS) will be responsible for coordinating and performing the full range of microbiological examinations and analyses, recording, interpreting, and result reporting of tests on specimens which may include human body fluids, tissues (human and animal), and isolates from clinical specimens to the submitting physician, clinic, hospital, or agency. Incumbent is also responsible for the development, validation, and implementation of new molecular tests, preparation of validation documents and SOPs, and troubleshooting of the existing molecular tests.
Minimum Education:Prior senior experience to include: specialized and complex analysis, computer experience, quality control, calibration, QC evaluation, inventory control, preventative maintenance, and quality improvement. Minimum Experience/Knowledge:4 years of experience in an Acute Care Facility setting with 1-2 years in a senior and microbiology capacity. Required License/Certification:Valid Clinical Lab Scientist license from the State of California. ASCP certification preferred but not required.Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
