Postdoctoral Research Associate - Mobility Data Analytics Center, Civil and Environmental Engineering-2015035
The Mobility Data Analytics Center (MAC) at Carnegie Mellon University aims to collect, integrate and learn from the massive amounts of mobility data and contribute to the development of smarter multi-modal multi-jurisdictional transportations systems. The ultimate objective of MAC is to:
Provide archived and real-time traffic data of every element of multi-modal transportation systems
Reveal the behavior information for both passenger transportation and freight transportation
Serve as a key instrument for managing transportation systems
Target a range of users including legislators, transportation planners, engineers, researchers, travelers and private companies
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at CMU. This position is also jointly appointed through our Traffic21 , a transportation research center at Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy, CMU. In this role, you will focus on integrating and analyzing big transportation data, and establishing dynamic multi-modal transportation network models. You will lead funded research projects, supervise graduate research assistants, and write research proposals and reports. You will report to Professor Sean Qian
This is a temporary full-time position with a minimum duration of 6 months, with an opportunity to extend the position to multiple years depending on performance and availability of funding. The position will start in April 2020.
Doctorate Degree in a related field
Strong analytical skills, problem solving and reasoning skills required
Full-time, ambitious, with a recent quantitative doctoral degree in Engineering or other related areas
A record of efficiency
Passionate about programming and mathematical modeling
Priorities will be given to candidates:
With working knowledge of at least one programming language, such as C++, Python, etc.
With a good understanding of machine learning theories and algorithms
With inter-disciplinary background
