The Laboratories of Hoxworth Blood Center seeks a qualified, experienced individual to supervise the daily operations of the Component Manufacturing Laboratory and Research Services to assure uninterrupted distribution of blood and blood components to customers.
Position Responsibilities (Other duties will be assigned):
Coordinate the activities of Component Manufacturing Lab and Research Services (i.e., perform and monitor studies and/or quality control/quality assurance).
Manage supply inventory and quality control activity for the department.
Develop daily lab/staffing schedules.
Work with department Management to perform/arrange for maintenance contract on equipment and maintain accurate records.
Maintain SOP manuals and/or initiate new procedures.
Assign work; ensure proper workflow of the lab; act as lead worker.
Provide training to technician staff on equipment and proper techniques.
Develop and maintain services related to Research requests for raw material.
Develop and maintain a database for all Research customers, order requests, shipping and billing information, and monthly distribution spreadsheet to track revenues.
Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Perform technical and clerical duties as needed.
Coordinate all required daily manufacturing instructions to staff in the department as well as the Donor Services department.
Communicate appropriately to staff, donors, students, external departments and others as needed. Answer technical and medical questions when appropriate.
Determine necessity to contact department Manager or Assistant Director in emergency situations.
Maintain on-call and/or 24-7 coverage as appropriate.
Position frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, lifting up to 20 pounds, handling objects with hands, and occasional exposure to cold temperatures.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- three (3) years’ experience.
This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
