The Career Development Center at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Career Success Coordinator. Expectations are to strategically cultivate and strengthen employer relations with and between employers, students, alumni, and faculty to maximize student graduate outcomes. The Career Success Coordinator is a member of the Career Development Center (CDC) team and is responsible for providing outcomes-oriented career-readiness services to students through purposeful, developmental, high-touch advising and programs. This position will manage a portfolio of employers, alumni, and organizations for the development of jobs and internships for students.
Housed in the Division of Academic Affairs, the Career Development Center plays a vital role in the College's mission to nurture a community where students grow intellectually, thrive socially and live purposefully. We provide students with access to career development programs and services and help students develop the tools they need to be agile employees who can adapt to the increasing complexity of life and work in the 21st century. Duties include but not limited to:
providing career advising to students and alumni regarding the job-search process, interviewing, resume, and letter writing, and all other facets of career planning;
partnering with CDC staff to develop and implement career-readiness and career education programs;
collaborating with faculty, staff, and alumni from targeted areas to increase students' access to, and participation in, campus recruiting opportunities;
developing relationships with alumni, recruiters, businesses, and human resources staff in a variety of organizations that lead to on-campus recruiting, site visits, and repeat recruiting opportunities;
attending local and regional networking and recruiting events and making on-site employer visits;
working closely with CDC staff to coordinate all aspects of the recruiting program including employer information sessions, boutique recruiting activities and annual job fairs (manage employer schedules, secure space for campus interviews, market jobs to students, and host employers while on campus for interviews or information sessions);
providing leadership and overseeing daily management of the CDC online recruiting system and assisting in vetting and posting opportunities to connect students with employers;
developing metrics of success and conducting ongoing assessment of employer relation's efforts and providing feedback as to the effectiveness of such efforts.
excellent written communication and presentation skills;
effective problem-solving skills;
knowledge of career development theory, career paths, and job-search strategies;
demonstrated experience with recruiting or similar employer development/relationship building activities.
at least one year of professional experience in higher education;
knowledge of higher education software systems such as Banner, Handshake, or any comparable higher education campus management system;
demonstrated experience providing coaching or advisement to individuals in obtaining employment;
experience creating and managing events;
and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
