SUNY Morrisville seeks part-time, adjunct faculty to teach their medical coding and billing classes. Adjunct faculty will provide students with working knowledge of healthcare coding. Course includes abstracting information from patient documentation to process claim forms and assigning codes within both inpatient and outpatient healthcare settings. Identify and explain key steps in: both inpatient and outpatient medical billing (revenue) cycle, medical liability insurance, completing CMS-1500 claims, legal implications of HIPAA Privacy Rule, Medicare Part A and Part B in relation to inpatient and outpatient services.
A Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree preferred. Fall 2020 semester, class time TBD. Working knowledge of: ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS with minimum of two years' experience as coder/reimbursement specialist are required.
