POSITION TITLE: Full-Time Faculty - Dental Hygiene (Open Rank - Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor)
DEPARTMENT: Health Sciences
REPORTS TO: Dean of Health Sciences
STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Full-Time Faculty - Dental Hygiene will provide academic and clinical instruction for students in the Dental Hygiene program, to include but not limited to, lecture, laboratory, and clinical dental hygiene courses. They will teach a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) schedule of Dental Hygiene courses, which may include, but are not limited to the list found online in the Academic Catalog. Courses may be held in the classroom at our Fall River, New Bedford, Attleboro, and Taunton locations and/or in the online environment as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise students in the Dental Hygiene Clinic.
Teach a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) schedule of Dental Hygiene courses.
Utilize competency-based learning principles, reflected in assignments, course objectives, evaluation criteria, instructional strategies, and reference materials, that focus on student outcomes.
Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course and student learning outcomes and General Education competencies as appropriate.
Provide specific course content consistent with students' educational needs, varied learning styles, accreditation standards, and emerging trends in dental hygiene.
Serve as academic advisor to students.
Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week.
Develop appropriate discipline-related courses.
Serve on college committees as elected or appointed.
Attend program, department, division, all-college, academic area, and committee/council meetings.
Recommend suitable instructional material, textbooks, and library acquisitions.
Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes.
Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate.
Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom.
Foster student success across the college's diverse student body through innovative teaching and learning approaches.
Actively participate in the general college community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Maintain dental hygiene licensure by participating in appropriate continuing education (CEU's).
Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a Master's degree in dental hygiene, education, or teaching.
Current Massachusetts licensure, or eligibility to obtain prior to beginning employment, as Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with Permit L for local anesthesia.
Minimum of two years of experience in dental hygiene.
Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the college level.
Demonstrated knowledge of dental hygiene accreditation and regulation policies and guidelines.
Demonstrated knowledge of dental hygiene governance and regulatory agencies.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications and technology and/or applications common in dental hygiene practice and education.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong experience in curricular planning and assessment, as well as demonstrated use of High Impact Practices, technologies, and inclusive pedagogy to enhance student learning.
Must submit to a background check (including a CORI/SORI) and drug screening as a condition of employment.
The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
Experience in community college teaching, advising, and curriculum development.
Member of dental hygiene related professional associations.
Demonstrated experience with online instruction.
Clinical and didactic teaching experience at the college level, preferably at a community college.
Demonstrated versatility in teaching a range of courses offered in the Dental Hygiene program, particularly in dental materials and local anesthesia.
Demonstrated proficiency with Blackboard, Banner, Argos, and/or DegreeWorks.
Demonstrated experience working on committees and within teams.
Ability to speak a language in addition to English.

POSITION STATUS: Full-time, tenure track, MCCC/MTA unit position with benefits. The title of this position will be Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, depending on the selected candidate's experience.
STARTING DATE: Fall 2020
SALARY: Minimum salary $46,687 - $56,944 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
